Up for auction is a very unusual sterling silver utensil. I was told this piece was sterling but it is not marked sterling so please use your own judgement. I was told this utensil was used to ice a cake but I honestly dont know if thats what its really used for. This piece is marked PATENT JULY 1, 1856 and is marked P&H on the handle. It measures a little more than 10 inches long and has a comb type end that measures about 3 inches wide. The handle is monogrammed with a D and it has very ornate markings all over the end. It weighs approximately 4 ounces. This is not an exact weight on this item. It is as close as I can get given that I am using a postal scale and not a digital scale.
