ANTIQUE PAIR SHEFFIELD 925 SILVER GOBLETS1880-2 NO RESERVEOffered for auction is a lovely pair of Sheffield, sterling silver goblets. They each measure approximately 5.75 inches in height by approximately 2.5 inches in diameter. They are each approximately 2.75 inches deep. The pair weighs 6.68 troy ounces. The sponsor's mark for John Newton Mappin is rubbed on both goblets; however, the other hallmarks are clear. Each goblet has a crown town mark indicating Sheffield, England; a lion passant indicating sterling silver, and a duty mark. The date letter differs. One goblet has the date letter "N" for 1880-81, while the other goblet has the date letter "O" for 1881-82. On the underside of each base is stamped " Mappin & Webb & London Sheffield". The goblets have a semi-ovoidal shape and stand on a decorative 2 inch stem with a circular base measuring approximately 2.1875 inches in diameter.This offering is another example of the fine antiques from Chancery Lane Antiques, Inc.
