Antique French Porcelain Covered Sugar Bowl with Floral Finial Hand Painted 'Bleuets' pattern This beautiful piece of antique, French porcelain is snow white in color and features a hand painted 'Bleuets' pattern on both its lid and body (commonly known as 'cornflower sprig'). This covered sugar bowl is rectangular in shape (with panels at its corners), and is trimmed in gilt gold. The finial on its lid is shaped in the form of an open flower and it has lovely scrolled handles that are decoratively trimmed in gold. This piece is in excellent condition without any nicks, chips, cracks or crazing. The gold trim does show wear (see photos). This is an unmarked piece of antique French porcelain... I'm not sure whether or not it might fall into the Old Paris Porcelain category. It does seem to be a 19th Century piece. The base of the piece does not have a manufacturer's stamp but it has been marked with some form of incised signature. Measurements: 6" tall 5 1/2" long 4" wide I am currently auctioning several pieces of antique French Limoges porcelain in this 'Bleuets' pattern, manufactured by several different companies including Jean Pouyat (J.P.L); Gerard, Defraisseux & Abbot (GDL); Charles Field Haviland (CFH/GDM); La Porcelaine Limousine (PL); as well as a few beautiful unmarked pieces (such as this one).
