PATRIARCHS MILITANT (UNIFORMED IOOF) FRATERNAL SWORD AND SHEATH

Represents the Patriarchs Militant (Uniformed Ranks of the IOOF) Society or Lodge Sword.

The Patriarchs Militant Fraternal Order was first established int the United States circa 1841 and continues to this day. They are a Branch of the Independant Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and considered Uniformed Ranks. This Organization is closely related to the Masons.

The most distinctive features of this 35" sword are the Globe Shaped pommel with button cap and the Very Prominent reverse Quillions of the CrossGuard. The Cross-Guard has a panel in the center that displays a crown through which a shepards hook and sword are placed.

The hilts of the sword are cast brass, and the grip of the sword is made from wood core wrapped in leather, which is wrapped in a decorated Brass Ribbon wire. The Grip Ferrule is in the shape of a crown. The scabbards are of tubular sheet rolled steel with brass mounts.

The words PAX AUT BELLUM are found on the scabbord below a lamb and a lion. This stands for " Peace Or War". The sword has ornate etching on the blade which is mostly covered by age and rust but it can still be seen-as if to whisper of what truly lies beneath...surely it can be restored by a professional- sheath has 3 rings on it as well for hanging...absolutley beautiful and a true collectors piece.

These swords are very ornate in appearance and this is no exception. These Masonic Organizations are often shrouded in Secrecy and Ritual. The sword is very very old and shows it age-I have not tried to clean it, and it has rusted on the blade especially and the decorated ribbon wire wrapped around the leather grip has broken. Cleaned up this sword will be even more beautiful but to gaze upon it now is amazing in itself....Imagine what this piece has seen...It is sold as is, no returns or refunds so please ask as many questions as you like and see my feedback-I have 100% positive feedback for a reason! Thankyou and God Bless!!
