Very large antique country store candy/cracker/biscuit jar with hinged aluminum lid. This tilted jar is from very late nineteenth century or very early twentieth century. There is a 2 1/2" raised band around the center that could've been used to advertise contents of jar. This hard to find jar is 11 1/2" tall, 11 1/2" deep, and 12" in diameter. Circumference is 33". The glass is very thick the total weight is over six pounds! There are bubbles and streaks present as is common with these old glass pieces as well as a very faint green tint. The connecting band surrounding the neck of the jar has some rust, aluminum lid is in good vintage condition. There are no cracks or chips in this beautiful old country jar. Bottom of jar has some light abrasions from years of use. The only markings are a circle on the bottom and the words "patent pending".
