We use this table in all our listings 1. LOW PILE This is more tactile than visual. If you run your hands over the pile you may feel some areas a bit coarser. This is low pile, where the pile isn’t as new as it once was but it hasn’t gone through to the back warp. It is of little significance. 2. WEAR This is when the pile has worn low enough to show the thin white lines of the back warp . We do not often buy carpets with significant wear but a little wear can be a charming feature of the carpet. Considered desirable even, by some experts who do not consider Persians to reach their best until 20 years old. Odd patches of wear will be mentioned and photographed if significant. 3. WHITE KNOT This is rather an interesting feature that occurs only in older handmade carpets. During the weaving process the warp threads may break and have to be tied off. The knots are hidden in the high pile but as the carpet gets older the pile wears lower and white knots show. They are seen as little specks in the carpet.
