DESCRIPTION: For bid is a fine antique Persian miniature watercolor on paper. It features an elaborate and intricate hand-painted scene of a princess or princess or noblewoman tending to an emaciated peasant. There is an elder on the left who looks like a traveler. The people are in front of a colorful tent with banners flying, in the foreground is a flock of sheep. In the distance are mountains. The reverse side has a painted gold and black border and four columns of calligraphy. I'd estimate it dates to the 19th century but I'm not an expert so look carefully at the photos and judge for yourself. Photo 11 shows the paper held up to sunlight, it has a grid pattern indicative of laid paper, it definitely has some age to it. CONDITION: The condition is fair to good. There are tape remnants top and bottom where it was attached to a mat. There are a few edge tears, none extend beyond the border. There is some general discoloration and spotting to the paper. The pictures are the best indicator as to condition, please use the zoom feature and check them out. DIMENSIONS: 11 3/4" (30 cm) tall by 7 7/8" (20 cm) wide Note: measurements are approximate PLEASE REVIEW OUR GENERAL AUCTION POLICIES SHIPPING: The purchaser will be responsible for shipping costs which will be added to the final bid.
