This is a very unusual antique piece which has fine metalwork, design, and cultural influences. It is solid brass and is a two part case to hold pens and ink. The two cases are hinged and the lids work just fine. It is of solid brass and everything about it causes me to believe it is from the 19th century. I cannot read the markings (shown in the photo). T are no other signatures or maker's marks. I believe it is Persian, but if anyone knows otherwise, please let me know. The length of the entire piece is 9 1/2" long, 1 3/8" wide and 1/2" deep. The inkwell is 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" x 1 3/4" and is firmly attached to the pen case. The condition is excellent.
