Antique Petit Point Purse Figural 2 Sided

This gorgeous antique micro petit point purse has a different scene on both the front and back with a floral border connecting the two sides. Both scenes are of a courting couple. The front side displays what I believe is a man proposing to his lady. He is on his knees and is presenting her with flowers. You will see in the background two sheep at the waters edge and a villa or church in the distant background. On the reverse side, the lady has jumped to her feet and has thrown herself into her lovers arms. This purse has a dainty brass frame that has tiny seed pearls the entire length. Two tiny pearls are missing (one on each end next to the hinge). The plunger type clasp is shaped somewhat like a crown and has slightly larger pearls on the top. This frame is marked, "AUSTRIA" on one of the rings that connects the frame to the chain handle. A new lining has been placed inside the purse prior to my purchasing the purse. It appears to be white silk with a tiny print and has a metallic braid trim around the edges. The actual petit point stitching has been done with silk and each stitch is very, very fine. Two small repairs has been made in seperations between rows of petit point very close to the bottom of the frame. One is on the back and one on the front and neither are visible in the photos. You have to examine the purse very closely to even find these repairs. This is a very, very pretty purse and I believe worthy of an advanced collection.
