A Great Set of 6 Pewter Measures.Absolutely wonderful and rare find, a 6 piece pewter measure set, by the famous maker James Yates British 1840-1880 this wonderful set is in excellent condition, it appears that the outside patina is all original, warm, rich and lustrous, except for the largest pitcher, which may or may not have been polished at one time, it has a lower luster than the rest of them, but on the other hand my feeling is maybe this one was used more than the other ones and always being wiped, so it may appear to be a slightly different color than the other ones but never the less an absolutely wonderful set of graduated measures, each measure is hallmarked with the name James Yates. Marked also on the large one "quart", on the second one it is marked James Yates pint, third James Yates half pint, the fourth Ã,½ pint, fifth Ã,½ gill and the sixth Ã,¼ gill. There are also other hallmarks here and there on the pewter measures hallmark of a crown with the letters VR and the numbers 251. Once again absolutely wonderful 19th century set of graduated measures,by a famous British Maker!
