This set of 11 brass gongs was purchased on Mindanao Island, Phillipines in 1961 and brought back to Hawaii. The Gongsare made of hand hammered brass with the heaviest weighing approximately 25 lbs. These are thick brass, well constructed gongs probably used for a long time in a village prior to being purchased in 1961. Use of these gongs was probably for signaling to other villages or as a musical instrument. Age is unknown but at least 50 years old. These are rare items by themselves and this set has 11 gongs as well as three gong strikers or bangers. These are vintage, authentic, and hard to find. Overall shape of gongs is excellent but some will require polishing to bring back luster. there is no set like this on e-bay. Please see sizes and dimensions listed below.
