Unique antique phone/lamp! Hello, hello, operator! Thatâe(tm)s how this phone was originally used âe¦ by calling the operator, giving her the number you wanted to call, and she would connect you âe¦ and maybe listen in on your conversation as well! This is part of an estate sale that offers several valuable items. This item appears to be an old phone that was made into a lamp! Iâe(tm)m not an expert on old phones, but it appears that this could have been a working phone at one time. The wiring is the old cloth-wrapped wiring. The main flaw is that the screw-on ring for the ear piece is broken and t is a small chip on the mouth piece. Lift the ear piece to turn it on. Although a lamp shade is included in some pictures, you are bidding on just the lamp, without the shade. Made by Western Electric with the first patent date stamped on it as Aug. 16, 1904 . The main part (stand) of the phone is brass. Because it has such old wiring I havenâe(tm)t tried to use the lamp. It would be best if the wiring is replaced if the winner of this neat old relic wishes to keep using it as a lamp.
