Antique Pine Wooden Storage Tool? Sewing? Fishing? Box

You are bidding on an antique and primitive pine wooden storage box. I'm not sure exactly what it was used for when made, perhaps a tool or fishing or sewing box. Whatever its prior purpose, it is a very cool box! The box measures 13" long x 7 1/4" high x 7 1/2" wide. T is antique brass hardware hinges on the back as well as a hook closure on the front, however this hook looks newer. I believe it might have replaced the original hardware because of the holes around it (please see photo). Inside the box is a wooden tray that can be lifted out of the box and has 5 compartments. This tray measures 11 1/4" long x 2 1/4" wide x 6" wide. The 3 smallest compartments measure 2 1/4" x 2 3/4", another one measures 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" and the largest one measures 2 1/2" x 7 1/4". I am wondering if someone made this tray separate or later then the original box to fit into the box because the wood is different, though it also looks primitive. T is normal wear/marks all over the box, with a lot of small black marks. I'm not sure what they are from but they add some definite mystique and charm to the box! The box is also very heavy and sturdy. The box will be shipped UPS Ground within the lower 48 states only. This does include insurance. Sorry, no international bidders please. Payment must be made through PayPal within 3 days from end of auction. eBay no longer allows sellers to accept money orders or personal checks. If you have any questions, please email me. Thank you for visiting my auction and good luck!
