Antique Student Lamp
Wow! That is all you can say about this EXTREMELY rare piece. This auction is for one of the cleanest and most rare lamps I've ever had the pleasure of running into. The lamp was made by Plume and Atwood and is a very early, turn of the last Century student lamp. The lamp has the original ribbed deep pink glass shade with white interior and delicate chimney. The rest of the lamp is made of solid brass with a heavy lead weighted base. The lamp was extremely well taken care of and polished every so often since it was originally purchased. As a result it looks brand new, but t are areas w t is some minor brass discoloration - I tried to photograph most of those areas. It is really hard to notice just because the piece is SO ornate. I'm not sure of the model name or exact date of manufacture, but I am pretty sure it is from around 1890 and it has images on the side of the Old Man From the North. The vessel that holds the oil or kerosene is shaped like an Aladdin lamp and it is made of cast brass. All the pieces are and it is ready to use. I think it might need a wick. The wick advance is signed HARVARD PA, and the lamp is completely original. This piece is guaranteed old and completely original and has been by no less than three professional appraisers and said to be a true original. The lamp measures about 21" tall and the shade is 7" in diameter. I can guarantee you that you will not find an nicer student lamp (especially a Harvard) on ebay or any w this clean and this ornate. Someone is going to be a very proud new owner of this magnificent piece and it starts at 99 cents with no reserve! The lamp is very heavy and will have special packaging considerations, so shipping will be higher. Tough to find these that haven't been drilled and turned into electric lamps! Bidder pays $50.00 for shipping and handling via USPS Mail within the United States. International bidders please email me for shipping cost if they are not disclosed in the below Shipping and Handling section. Also, International Bidders please keep in mind that all items with a final closing value of US$20.00 or more will require insurance. It is very inexpensive and will protect the shipment against loss. Insurance will be purchased from a 3 rd party insurer (find out more at ), which provides much better coverage. I accept personal checks, money orders and credit cards via Paypal. I charge a 5.1% sales tax to all Wisconsin residents - sorry, it's mandatory! Thanks for bidding! Shipping rules : If you happen to win more than one auction and live in the United States I will GREATLY discount shipping. Obviously, the discount will depend on the weight of each individual item and the physical characteristics of the shipment. Discount will be determined once all auctions are closed, or you can email me for the exact cost prior to the auctions closing. Sorry, international shipping is quite a bit more expensive; however, I will still discount shipping. Return Policy : Returns are accepted on items in the event t is a discrepancy between the item description above and the actual condition of the item. I am also always willing, at my discretion, to work with the bidder to make sure their experience is positive, and will often return items if it's not what the bidder expected. Please inquire before bidding if this is unclear. A request for return must be made within 2 days of delivery - t are NO exceptions to this rule.
