This pond yacht was purchased at an estatesale in Florida many years ago. It was made long ago as a working sailboat, to sail on ponds or small lakes and has a working rudder and fully adjustable rigging. It’s a Herschoff type design with a heavy lead weighted keel and sleek lines. The mahogany deck has a lovely old varnish and the hull is painted in a rust red, that is crackling to show other paint colors beneath. It comes with a main sail, recently made and the pattern and cloth for the jib sail. The original sails were decayed beyond repair. The boat sits on a redwood stand, that gives it a nice perch for display. The rudder seems to have had some kind of wind-correcting steering, the kind that keeps the boat from tipping over in a stiff breeze, but that is missing now. It had a bar with two holes at the top of the rudder for this purpose. The overall length is 34” and the height is 53-1/2”. The boat will be shipped with the mast down and will go by Fedex Ground or UPS. It would be hard to find a more authentic or classic pond yacht anywhere.
