Exquisite Antique porcelain figural group of couples dining. Stunning and quality figural, one of the most detailed I have seen. The hand paint is very intricate, with fine brush strokes and detailed patterns to their fancy clothing, the fabric on the chairs, the plates on the table, and also the base of the figural. Two couples are sitting around an oval dining table, the waiter is serving them wine. The table is set with a white table cloth and rose patterned plates and gold silverware. A three tiered serving table stands in front of the dining table with three bottles of wine and extra serving plates. The base of the figural is hand painted with an ornate design, it looks like fancy carpeting. As you can see, the figures have the most amazing faces, extremely well done. The condition is very good overall, with some damage. The figures had porcelain lace trim on their clothing, which has been broken off. T are two chipped fingers, and one hand is restored on a gentleman, which could have been done a lot better. The pedestal cake stand is broken off of the table and also a goblet, I have the pieces. T is a stress fracture on the base. This looks like it occured during the firing of the piece. Overall the piece is amazing, and I believe quite easy for a professional to restore the piece so that it's flawless, although it displays wonderfully as is. The figural is quite large, and very heavy weighing 11lbs. The measurement is 9 1/2" tall by 11" wide and is 8 1/2" deep through the middle. The figural is marked with blue crossed swords and an S, the back stamp for Samson. A magnificent work of art. Please ask questions if you would like to clarify any thing all of my sales are final. Good Luck I would like to add the history of Samson. The French porcelain manufactory of Samson &b Cie was Established by Edme Samson (Paris 1810). The intention of the firm was to reproduce ceramics from museums and private collections. The maker used the back stamp of the piece they were reproducing, and added the S, for Samson.Samson is extremely collectible and valuable, and the porcelains are very old as they were reproduced during the same time Meissen was being produced. This particular piece, is very Rare, a larger figural group that would have been a Museum piece, not intended for mass production. I also would like to mention, out of all of the quality porcelains I have sold, this is the nicest I have ever seen, including the Meissen pieces that I have sold in the past. I hope this bit of history on Samson is of value to some of the porcelain collectors.
