Estate find here is a decorative hand painted antique porcelain mantel clock. Marked on the bottom base in gold ROYAL VIENNA Patent 22983 on one side and the number 788 on the other bottom side. I do not know the history of this piece or the age. Schroeder's Antique Price Guide tells me Claude Innocentius de Paquiter established a hard past porcelain factory in Vienna where he made highly ornamental wares similar to those produced at Meissen in 1719 +. Early wares were usually unmarked. Lots of crazing throughout this piece with age wear and some paint loss. The bottom base measures 15" long by 4-1/2" wide. This piece is 15" tall from the very tip to the bottom and measures 15" by 4-1/2" wide. I am a novice with this type of item but will try to describe so if you have questions please email and I will try to help the best I can. Glass cover over the clock is good with no chips or cracks. Numbers are clear, the hands turn fine, you can wind it but it is not working. I have not attempted to try to make this work in any way nor have I examined the works inside. Works inside this clock shown in photos. Back metal cover has rust. The back side is a deep dark blue painted color. Victorian scene with ladies gathering outdoors is the center of attention. Gold, green, dark blue and pink accents with ornate design make this piece quite attractive.
