RARE ANTIQUE POTTERY, PALE CREAMWARE-PEARLWARE TEAPOT WITH OVER GLAZE CHINOISERIE DECORATION, ATTRIBUTED TO LEEDS POTTERY C. 1765-75 "A fascinating eighteenth century English antique pottery teapot circa 1765-75 with distinctive cross over handle, floret handle terminals and mushroom knop to lid. The earthenware pottery body is interesting, almost transitional: milk white creamware meets true blue pearlware. Flamboyant on glaze decoration; in cobalt blue and iron red with a touch of gold; may be the work of an independent decorating establishment. Stylistically, a pattern similar to chinoiserie delftware found on both London Lambeth and Liverpool tin glazed earthenware. This teapot was probably made in Leeds and perhaps decorated in London. We cannot rule out Staffordshire manufacture, even Wedgwood, without further research... A rare and special example of best antique English pottery in great condition.
