Fabulous antique six drawer oak spool cabinet. Was apparently used in a dry goods store, has a slant top hinged lid, signs of ink spillage and has seen a great deal of use. Still quite sturdy and functional. Prior to our purchasing it, it was restored. The "leather" top insert was replaced and the labels on the drawers are not original. Also, the brass drawer pulls are newer, but they did attempt to copy the originals as one of the old ones was left in a drawer and the style is quite similar (we'll send it along). This piece has some dings, a chink missing from the left front corner of the lid (please view photos 6 & 9), and the aforementioned ink stains, but all in all it is in very good condition. We're estimating its age to be pre-1920. The drawers are all original and dovetailed. The bottoms of the drawers show some warpage, but not too bad. The original boards or slats that formed the desk top were lying loose in the top. When the "leather" top was replaced (with likely vinyl), they just stretched it over a new piece of plywood (and used phillips screws on the underside!). The old boards could be reused to give this piece more authenticity. This is quite a large piece. It is 15" tall in back and 14" in front, 23" deep and 33" wide. The inside measurements of the desktop are 20 1/2" to the back and 30" wide, 3" deep in the back and 1 1/2" in the front. The drawers are 19" deep and 13 1/2" wide. I believe it weighs in the neighborhood of 40 pounds. Due to the size of this piece we are not offering shipping. This item will be pickup only, although we can deliver within a 100 mile radius for a fee. We are located in Pana in central Illinois, 3 hours south of Chicago, 1 hour southeast of Springfield, Illinois, 3 hours 10 minutes west of Indianapolis, Indiana, and approximately 1 hour 45 minutes northeast of St. Louis, Missouri. We've provided many photos, please view them and ask questions prior to bidding. We have not placed a reserve on this item, just our reasonable starting price. Please view our other auctions, we also have a knock 'em dead dry sink listed. Thank you!
