I bet I'll regret selling this. Probably will be on the next " Antiques Road show" right after I do, but..
..........Up for your consideration: This is an Original and wonderful American Folk Art oil painting. Depicting an old Woman carrying a basket on a cold winter's day. She looks as though she's bracing from the cold.. Very Very Detailed. This is NOT a PRINT. This is an oil. Please read on.. See the small chapel on the hill? So many little branches on the trees, and winter grass stems poking though the snow. Each Window of the home is so carefully shaded, and perfectly squared. Each fence post has just a silver lining of fresh snow, too. So sweet, so old, and primitive. Signed O. Johnson. I Bought this with two other HUGE charcoal drawings of a couple from Norway. ( Told by The family who's estate sale I bought them from)... I will be listing the drawings this week as well. They are fabulous!! Save me under your favorite sellers...if you're interested. As I said, I purchased this from a Nebraska Estate, but does not fit my cabin Decor. I bought it because it is just plain lovely, and the general style andsubject matter warm my heart when I look at it. Hope it does the samefor you. Painting itself could use a proper cleaning and a few touch ups. I'm sure a professional could make this something you would love to continue passing on through the years to your family. I have examined this with a Jeweler's eye, and t are no DOTS as you would see in a print. Only brush strokes and fine details. I guarantee it. The Wood and gesso frame is in REALLY good overall condition. Is a Grapevine style and very beautiful. Could use a little tightening at the corners, and a little gold touch up on each as well. Looks as though someone tried to fill the corners at one time, but never finished repainting. Still in remarkable condition for it's age. No leaves, vines or grapes missing at all. I took this to an antique store to get their opinion of it recently, and they thought 1800's, in good condition, and noted the construction of the frame (as shown in photos listed is quite old and in great collectible condition. The painting itself needs a little care, but they thought they could fetch a few hundred in store front as it is. Painting on stretched canvas measures: 9x14 The outside of frame measures: 18.5 x 13.5 I am a very thoughtful packer and will insure this before shipping. Please ask questions before you bid. All sales are final. Thank you for your interest!
