******** ALWAYS A UNIQUE TREASURE ******** Auction Item : A very high quality antique French pewter pitcher. It is decorated with all kinds of symbolism and other fine artwork. The words on the front read PATIENS QUIA CETERNA . This is Latin and I couldn't get an exact english translation but I came up with Enduring(Patiens) Because(Quia) Everlasting(Ceterna). T are many makers markings on this piece. On the handle and base t is a stamp KB with a crown and hammer and a star under the hammer. The crowned hammer mark is a masters mark and KB is the masters initials. This mark was used in France around the mid to late 18th century. A bit of info is at this link /anglais/memento.html On the inside base t are two big letters SD , I am not sure what SD means. The base is also numbered 4 8 63 50, also I don't know what these numbers mean. Again t is alot of symbolism in this piece and I haven't even begun to do research on it. The maker was a true master of the pewter art. NO RESERVE AUCTION! Age : mid to late 1700's Measures : 8 1/2 inches tall Condition : Excellent, No damage, Great Patina! See all pictures.
