Antique DAZEY BUTTER CHURN No # 40 Brand: Dazey Churn & MFG Company Origin: St. Louis, Missouri Year Manufactured: Possible 1919 into 1920 Capacity: 4 quarts Size of Glass Jar: 9-3/4 inches tall x 6-1/4 inches wide (not including lid and mechanism) Overall height: 14-1/4 inches (including lid and mechanism) Number of Paddles: Three (3) Hardwood (NOTE : Missing one (1) paddle) Lid Material: Stamped Steel Threaded Screw Cap Top Cast Iron Gear Frame with Hand Grip Cast Iron Crank with Natural Hardwood Handle READS on Glass Jar in embossed raised letters:"4 QT" "DAZEY CHURN & MFG. CO. No40 MADE IN USA ST. LOUIS. U.S.A." (Circle shape) The base of the Glass Jar is embossed with raised numbers: "3 562" Square High Shoulders on Glass Jar CONDITION : Butter Churn is original. NO attempt to restore or clean. Glass jar rim exhibits 1/2 chip on edge of rim. Bottom of glass jar show signs of wear, which is common from being moved around a while churning the butter. The lid and crank exhibits quite a but of rust and pitting. It is also missing the pour spout cover. The crank and gears move freely. Please look over all pictures carefully as part of description and email questions if needed. Although this churn exhibits some flaws it still displays wonderfully in the primitive setting.
