This auction is for a rare antique RED teddy bear in need of much TLC. He is about 20 inches tall stretched out or about 50 cm and dates to approximately the 1920s. I believe him to be English in origin though it is possible that he might be American. *** Buyers, please read the description carefully as this is a very tatty teddy in need of restoration. Ted has a lot of overall wear and balding. Much of his short red mohair has worn away, revealing the brown fabric beneath. Teddy is missing both ears and one eye. He is also missing most of his nose and mouth stitching. He has a nonworking growler in his belly. Ted also has several holes in his fabric. One by his nose, another w one of his ears should be and a third at the top of his leg; this one is visible from the back. He is also missing his paw pads. I have placed doll socks inside and over his arms/wrists to prevent him from losing more stuffing due to the missing pads. His foot pads have been recovered in felt and some soft stuffing has been placed in his ankles to fill in for any stuffing that he had lost. He does have a hump on his back, though, it is deflated as some of the excelsior/straw has settled in his mid section too. On the brighter side, all of his joints are in good working order and he still manages to be charming and endearing in spite of his numerous flaws. read more
