ANTIQUE REED & BARTON STERLING OBLONG BOWL RIBBED EDGE ITEM: OLD STERLING BOWL BY REED & BARTON AGE: V hallmark indicates 1942 manufactured date SIZE: 9 Inches long by 6 3/8 inches across DESCRIPTION: For your consideration is this wonderful old estate silver bowl. Manufactured by Reed & Barton, this oblong bowl has a beautiful starburst effect created by its deeply ribbed edges. The hallmarks include: the R in a shield with eagle & lion on either side, "STERLING X303F", then a mark that looks like the Roman Numeral "V". The V age mark indicates the bowl was manufactured in 1942. CONDITION: We found this bowl and two others at a local estate sale. Please be sure to check out the others. Clearly, all of these sterling pieces have been around and used for many years. This oblong bowl is heavily tarnished and needs to be professionally cleaned. T are two surface scratches about 1.5 inches in the base. They are difficult to see and should buff out with cleaning. T is also a tiny dark spot (less than ¼ inch) in one corner. It appears to be tarnish but I have no way of knowing if it will buff out. I have not attempted to clean the bowl. T are no dents or dings.
