This is a lovely antique monstrance or reliquary. It is made of brass or brass colored metal. It is heavily decorated with wire filigree and metal beading. T are five large red teardrop jewels around the central chamber (not sure of the proper term)- I do not know if they are glass or some semi-precious stone. T are also three silver colored metal beads, one above the chamber and two below. The chamber itself the correct size for a host but might have contained a sacred relic, I don't know, and is empty except for a red satin backing. The glass covering is missing. The back of the chamber is tarnished silver, again unmarked but I suspect sterling. T is a handle fashioned on the back of the piece (see photo). The monstrance stands 7" tall and is 3 3/4" at it's widest. Thank you for looking. I am listing another old piece - a sterling reliquary intended to be worn as a pendant or brooch.
