This auction is for an unusual Chinese covered jar from the 1910s to the 1920s. It more than likely brought back from China by a Japanese soldier, government official or tourist in the 1910s or 20s. The jar is decorated with the 1912-1928 Republic of China flag (Five Races Under one Union version) crossed with the 1911-1928 Chinese Wuhan Army flag on the front. The backside is decorated with bats. The condition is wonderful and the colors are vibrant. On the lid is a peach and around the edge of it wear there is minor separation. It has not broken off, as the leaves are still connected perfectly. See the 5th photo for a clear close-up. This is very minor and hardly noticeable. There are no other chips or cracks, the condition is extremely nice. It measures approx. 115 mm tall and 82 mm in diameter. It weighs 317 grams. Please see all the photos I have provided. If you have any questions, feel free to email and I'll answer them the best I can. Though I don't know much about Chinese porcelain, I can easily judge the condition and i do deal in a lot of Japanese porcelain from the same era. This jar absolutely shows no signs of repair or tampering in any way. The winning bidder should be thrilled with it. Please note the last photo is just to show you a period item with the same flags displayed. It's not apart of this auction. See my read more
