Antique, Victorian Nun’s ROSARY RELIC BONE SKULL MEMENTO MORI Hand Carved with BRASS CRUCIFIX and Hand-Tied Brass Wire Bail Up for auction is a beautiful and authentic Nun’s rosary skull.This relic was purchased right here on e ba y from church-woman. I have enjoyed owning this trinket for several years now. But time has come for me to pass it on.According to the artifacts dealer I bought it from: These relics were placed on a nun’s rosary as an ever present reminder of their mortality. They were held to help focus during meditation and prayer. Hand carved cow or antler bone. Estimated age: circa 1800-1900. This small skull is entirely hand-carved from cow bone. Years of handling have aged the bone and given the skull a warm brown patina. Notice the amazing detail. The skull only measures 28mm from tip of chin to top of head. There is a hand-tied brass wire bail for attaching to a rosary. The skull makes an amazing necklace pendant. What you see is what you get. I have described all features to the best of my ability.
