ANTIQUE ROYAL BONN FRANZ MEHLEM CLOCK WITH TWO MATCHING VASES! L18 You are bidding on an absolutely breathtaking hand-painted porcelain clock measuring 17-1/2" high X 9-1/2" wide X 5-1/4" deep. Accompanying the clock are two stunning vases, each measuring 13-1/4" in height. The bottom of the clock is hand marked with the writing "33. Dec.4372 3059." Additionally, it had a strip of paper taped to it with the words "From Mrs. N.R. Stillwell's Parlor - 1898." According to the great-granddaughter, this is the year her great grandmother Stillwell acquired this piece. The works of the clock are solid brass with a wind up pendulum driven with chime. The signature on the works is a square containing a "CJ" over a "CC." Below this is the number "52." Additionally, t is a number "820" on the upper left (all seen in photos below). This clock and two vases have been wrapped and stored in the family's home since 1969. The works appear to be in excellent cosmetic condition as it was always kept nice and dry. The clock does not stay running however, and would most likely benefit from a good cleaning and tweaking. Please note that we are not clock experts and as with all our clocks and timepieces, it is being sold as is with no guarantee. It does have the original keys. The porcelain of the clock as well as the two vases are in very nice condition overall with no chips or cracks, with the exception of one small fleck off the foot of one vase (see photo detail). T is, however, overall crazing on all three pieces (again, see photo detail). Additionally, I have not cleaned the porcelain, as I am aware from experience that new buyers can be quite particular about how pieces are cleaned. I have tfore not used any type of chemical or cleaner, and as such, all pieces are being sold in "as found" condition. The bottoms of both vases retain the Royal Bonn Franz Mehlem mark. Additionally, one vase has another mark of a triangle with what appears to be German writing, but it is illegible and I cannot make it out. I have photographed it however, as seen below. T are also hand-written numbers, also photographed. This stunning trio of pieces would make a dramatic and elegant statement in any fine home!
