ANTIQUE ROYAL DOULTON UNION JACK DRAPED BULLDOG MODEL Ra No 645 658 LARGE VERY RARE 6" height Royal Doulton marking stamp RaNo 645,658. This sale is for a Royal Doulton Bulldog Draped in the Union Jack in wonderful condition. As you can hopefully see in the photos, the finish looks fantastic. It's measurements are roughly 15cm (6") ("Large"). Some research I've done tells me this is called the Churchill or Winston Churchill Bulldog, and it was only produced in 1941. It was made in 3 sizes, with this one being the large size which is more sought after than Any of the other sizes. It was part of a patriotic collection that is very popular because of it's production proximity to World War II. It was designed by Doulton senior ceramic modeller and designer Charles Noke. As you can see, the bottom carries the Royal Doulton marking stamp, and RaNo 645,658. I don't know the origins of this piece beyond that it's been in my family for a long time, and it clearly has been taken care of. Whether you're a history buff, Royal Doulton collector, or you just love cute little bulldogs, don't miss out on this really great item.
