This auction is for an enormous banquet sized tablecloth and 12 huge napkins. The tablecloth measures approximately 152 inches in length (may be a half inch larger or shorter) x 84 inches wide. The napkins measure approximately 31 inches x 31 inches (again they may vary a half inch or so one way or the other). The cloth and napkins are made of the finest crisp linen damask with elaborate floral designs in white on white; which is very difficult for me to show you. I have played with the lighting on some of the images to try to show you the elegant pattern designs. Please note, however, that all of the pieces are clean, starched, ironed and bright white in color (except for the crown and the monograms). The tablecloth and the 12 napkins all have an embroidered royal monogram of AG and they are each numbered. The numbers on the napkins are 1, 2, 7, 12, 15, 30, 36, 45, 50, 58, 61, 65. The #50 number is very faded on this napkin as is the AG monogram. The others do not look as faded as they do in the close up pictures. With the naked eye, they look more rose colored because of the white thread that was sewn over the red threads. To see 2 examples of this exact crown and the lettering of the monogram, please go to /monograms/crowns-monograms. This website is called Crowns, Nobility and Monograms. One example states that it is a "Biedermeier tablecloth with a Count Crown, 1850. Another example calls it "A Comtal Crown and Monogram G". This shows the exact elaborate "G" as shown on this tablecloth and napkins. The story that came with these linens said that they came from a German Baron or Count's estate. For this I have no proof, however. I find it interesting that the embroidered monograms and the numbers seen under a 10x magnifier show that the numbers and monograms were first embroidered in bright red and then gone over with white thread. This gives the crown, monogram and the numbers more of a dark pink or rose color when seen with the naked eye. I found one very small hole in the tablecloth and no problems at all with the napkins with the exception of the fading on #50 and some minor fading on one or two of the other napkins monograms.
