The Imperial and Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Vienna, 1744-1864, used the adaption of the Coat-of-Arms of the Hapsburg Family, the beehive, as the mark on its fine works of art. For one's consideration, this lovely late 18th to early 19th Century man and wife, perhaps, figurines, is an example of Vienna's artists. The man seems to have his head slightly bowed as he is in the presence of his wife. He extends an arm to show his respect and devotion. As any gentleman would, he had removed his hat as he bowed. Perhaps the lovely couple are planning a festive evening, for their clothing closely matches. His coat is a tomato color with flowers of yellow, lavendar, and red blooms; one could see what appears to be roses on the back side towards the bottom. His smoke colored trousers are decorated in front with some elegant design. His hat is smoke color as it donns a yellow bow. His vest is black with gold buttons. The cuffs of his coat matches the vest. The shoes have an elegant buckle, highlighted with gold and red. Such a display of art is seen in the huge rose bloom between his feet. The green folage acents the petals. The base has gold highlights, and on the bottom, one will see the asymmetrical hand-painted beehive mark, blue, and under the glaze. Unfortuately, this beauty has its flaws. The tip of the pinkie finger on his left hand is chipped off. His right hand has its thumb chipped off, as well as its pinkie finger. However, by clutching the hat, the hand's flaws are not as noticeable. The fair lady has rose cheeks, perhaps a sign of blushing when greeted by her husband. Her head is covered up in what appears to be some sort of bonnet. It is white with green circles, laced with some black lining. The edges of the bonnet are a cream color. The front of the bonnet has a bow that matches her dress. The dress is a tomato color with flowers painted throughout, having green folage, yellow, white, and red blooms. Some hints of lavendar can be seen. The end of the dress is laced with black designs and gold linings. A shaw is draped around her that is green, having black trim lined with gold. She donns red shoes with green ribbons. She holds to her left a huge basket that has some large lavendar rose like flowers, very similar to the one between her bow's feet. The base is lined with gold, and underneath on the bottom side, one will see the asymmetrical hand-painted beehive mark; it is more lucid than the one her husband's base. Like all marriages, both couples have their flaws; her right had is extended out towards her date for the evening, having what appears to have been a plucked flower from her basket, but it is missing, as well as the half part of all her fingers. The thumb is intact. The beauty of these pieces are exquisite and show the skill of Vienna artisians, minimizing the flaws. Including the base, she is approximately 9" tall. Her base is 3'' by 3.25." Of course, the gentleman is slightly shorter at a height of approximately 8," for his bowing makes that difference in height. His base is 3" by 3.25" in diameter. From the end of his right elbow to the tip of his extended fingers on the left hand is approximately 5" across. From the end of her right hand to the side of the basket, the diameter is approximately 4.5" across. Please bid with confidence in knowing that I accept returns if I am notified within three days.
