AntiqueRoyal Worcester Blush Thimble w/ Bird English * Circa 1870-90 This beautiful antique Royal Worcester porcelain thimble is a nice example of one of the early thimbles made with a peach colored "blush" ground. It varies from a soft peach on one side to a golden color on the other. The sides are beautifully hand painted with a little blue tit and foliage and the bottom and top are painted with gold bands. It's about an American size 7 and is translucent when held to the light. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or loss of gilding or paint. It has a high gloss glaze inside and a matte finish outside and on the top. Several of the Worcester blush thimbles with birds are shown on pp. 101-107 of the Story of the Thimble by Bridget McConnel. I stand behind everything that I offer and guarantee that it is exactly as presented. ** Full Insurance is included in the low shipping price for all of my auctions. ** ** Illustrated newsletters available on Antique Sewing Tools ** If you would like to be on my mailing list and receive the newsletters, email me at cmmeacham on AOL or visit my Elegantarts website to download them.
