Antique Russian Faberge Gold Pencil/pendant

This lovely miniature pencil is overall enameled in pale translucent blue over a waved guilloche ground, bordered by a chased yellow gold foliate band and capped in rose gold. Interior fittings are stamped with the workmaster's initials A.A. for Andrei Adler, (see note below) 56 , the Russian gold standard for 14k in zolotniks and two Kokoshniks or Russian headdress hallmarks for 1908-17 (image 3). Fitted with a gold suspension ring, the pencil was designed to be worn as a pendant on a chain. Some minor chips to the enamel, this rare Faberge pencil is both attractive and reasonably priced-2 3/8 in. (6 cm.) long. Sold with description if requested, and gift box or custom suede couch.
Andrei Karlovich Adler Ac cording to new research based on the recently discovered memoires of Evgenii Faberge (Carl's son), the St. Petersburg goldsmith, Andrei Adler supplied items for house of Faberge and was an employee of the firm. Founded in 1855, Adler specialized in small gold and enamelled objects, orders and jetons. The pattern of engine-turning and use of pale blue enamel on this piece is characteristic of Faberge, as is the quality of workmanship.* * T. Faberge, V.
