Up for sale is this U.S. Mail drop box. It's in fantastic condition and proudly displays it's red-white-and-blue! This was likely attached to a building or probably somewhere inside, like in a foyer to a building or something because the box is in great shape, the colors are vibrant, and it's in good working order! As you can see, the top is bright red and the bottom Federal blue. It has white letters on the left side that say "U.S. Mail" and the drop slot says "Letters". The drop slot is hinged and worked well as you can see in the second picture. The mail carrier access at the bottom used to have a lock on it but it's not there. This access is also hinged and sticks just a little on the little wing that extends out to keep the water from getting in it. It takes a little pull to open it but it's not hard.
It's heavy. Dang! It weighs over 60 lbs. Government construction standards for a mailbox! You won't be running off with this any time soon!
It measures 16.5" W x 27.5" H x 10" D. It's a nice size, has great colors, and would look great in your collection! There are some holes in the back of it, we anticipate these are where it was hung on the wall. The underside is a bright orange (not shown).
There are a few chips in the finish, especially on the red. You can see some of these in pictures # 7 - # 10. They are indicative of an item of this age and say "I'm old". What character!
