For your consideration today is a beautiful antique last rite sick call box. The priest would use these on the battle fields to serve communion and minister last rites. The top part of the box features a statue of The Virgin Mary holding Jesus after His death. Covering the statue is a stunning reverse painted glass that contains angles and crosses in a basic red, sky blue, green and white. The painted glass is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The phrase"Blessed be Thy Holy name" appears at the bottom of this picture. The bottom of the sacristy opens in a downward motion and contains an old quadruple platted silver host server an anointing brush with a cross on the handle. The bottom part of this box depicts Jesus and the twelve disciples at the last supper. The frame is made of oak and is in very good condition. T are no cracks in any of the glass and the painting and picture are in very good condition. T is some minor wear to the back of the box but it still maintains its integrity. The overall condition of this fragile piece is very good to excellent considering the age of the piece (which I believe to be early 1900's) The priest last rites box measures 23" x 13" x 4.5". I bought this at an estate sale along with some other religious items. It most definetely belonged to a priest in the early 1900's. The last rite box was used on the battle field in WWII to serve final communion to soldiers. The box may also have been used in WWI. Thank you for your consideration of this unique piece. I have put no reserve on this antique. .99 cents for a 100 year old antique . Happy bidding.
