Antique Book Locket Medal with Photos of St. Therese France ~ circa 1910 This wonderful antique book locket is a souvenir from Lisieux, France, and the Carmelite church of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus. It contains eight miniature photos and closed measures a mere 7/16" x 1-1/16" (1.8 x 2.7 cm)! The hinged cover is silver-plated brass, with ornate repousse designs on both sides. On the front is St. Therese of the Child Jesus, with crosses and roses. The back cover depicts lilies and reads: "Je veux Passer mon Ciel a faire du Bien sur la Terre" (I will spend my Heaven doing good upon earth). It also has the monogram of St. Therese and is marked Depose (French for trademark). The interior page is a long foldout of actual tiny photos of famous religious sites in Lisieux. All the photos are intact and clear.Plenty of detail and nice original patina. There's a hanging loop at the top, and a folding clasp at the bottom that holds the "book" closed. The hinge and clasp work fine. St. Therese is the patron of pilots, AIDS patients, parish missions, and protector against illness and loss of parents. See my other medal listings , too.
