Up for auction is this wonderful early 1800's salt glaze pitcher. This beautiful old pitcher is yellow ware with a light green color around the top and bottom decorated edges and at the center medallion which shows two horned cows grazing. At the bottom front edge on one side is a small unglazed spot with what looks to be letters scratched into it. I can make out a few letters but not a whole name. It is possible this was either the maker of the pitcher or the original owner who left their mark. I'm really not sure. This stunning old pitcher stands about 6 3/4 inches tall, 6 1/2" wide(with handle), and 4 1/2 " deep. This pitcher seems to be in near mint condition. I have examined it as close as I can and question only one tiny spot on the top rim near the handle that could be a flea bite or a defect in the glaze from when it was made, and inside on the bottom of the pitcher t is a thin line going around part of the bottom that is not glazed that also looks like it is from when the pitcher was made. This incredible old pitcher was purchased at the estate of an 104 year old woman who had lived at her family's original home all her life. The items at this estate were all very well kept and preserved. Please see the other treasures I have listed from this same estate. Insurance is not included in shipping costs and will be the responsibility of the buyer.
