This is a beautiful antique all hand Embroidered or Cross Stitched Bedspread/ Quilt or top/ Coverlet. It is double layered bright white, sturdy soft cotton. The white cotton on the topside has 85 squares of different beautiful embroidered scenes, 2 on each side of the top edge, then 9 rows across and 9 rows down of embroidered squares. The backside is a layer of all white cotton. It is all finished, and hemmed. Many different embroidered/cross stitch scenes on this, including Nursery Rhymes, Flowers, Rooster, Cherries, Floral Baskets, Roses, Vintage Teapot, Vintage Glassware, Birds, Laundry List, Nursery Rhyme figures, Vintage Children - boys, girls, and so much more. For instance, the words on many squares include "Goosy Goosy Gander, Whither Shall I wander?" "The House That Jack Built", "Handkerchief", "Mother Goose", "Scratch Back", Duster Bag", "Hide That Blot", "Hey Diddle Diddle, The Cat & The Fiddle", and more. It measures 70" X 82". It looks to have never been used. T are no spots, stains, yellowing, fading, or discoloring. I didn't find any missing stitches. The only thing I can find is a very few tiny pin prick holes, and 1 very small straight tear on the topside on the white cotton, about 1 1/2" long, very easy to mend. Otherwise this is in mint condition. Very sturdy soft white cotton. To me it looks like it has never been used, maybe washed once, due to the cotton being so soft, yet it isn't thinning, is very strong and sturdy. This is fabulous as it is as a bedspread or coverlet, or a good ebay seamstress or quilter may want to use it as a quilt top, (although it does have finished hems), add some batting with maybe another back layer, quilt it, and have a gorgeous quilt. So much time and work in this beauty by a 95 yr old lady, came from her Kansas estate. Very charming!
