Heres a large very early wooden candle or storage box. It is made of yellow pine and retains its original paint. The lid is beveled and slides into the edges . The lid also has a chiseled crescent shaped area to place your fingers to slide it. The sides are pegged on with 3 pegs on each end and the bottom has 12 pegs in it. The paint on the lid is really amazing on this piece. With white, yellow, blue, pink, and dark red unusual designs on the lid. The 4 sides are comb grain painted. I was told that this box is probably Norwegian and it dates back to circa 1800. The paint is 100% original and has wear commensurate wirh usage. this box came from an estate sale in Maine about 10 years ago. Your chance to own a rare piece of folk art. The measurements are 27" long by 12" wide high by 8" in depth. The box is quite heavy weighing in at 20 lbs. Let me know if you want to see more pictures. Buyer pays actual shipping and insurance.
