Antique Seth Thomas Banjo Wall Clock This is a beautiful example of a Seth Thomas BANJO Wall Clock in wonderful all original condition. It was made circa 1920‘s. It has a signed "Seth Thomas Clock Co" 8-day time only 4 JEWEL LEVER movement. It is a very strong runner and ticks very quietly. This clock is the model “Ramsgate”. Banjo clocks are American clocks – originally called “Willard Patent” – invented by Simon Willard around 1800! They became known as “banjo” several years later because of their unique shape. The Seth Thomas Clock Company was begun in 1820 and has been known for making high quality clocks. The Seth Thomas clock company stayed in business many years and was always in the Thomas family until it was bought by the General Time Corp in the 1930s. ( More information .) The case is also very beautiful, solid mahogany, with its beautiful ORIGINAL finish! It is in perfect condition with even the original finish. The silvered dial is all-original and in superior condition. The hands are original (see picture). Has its original American eagle! The back is original – super condition. Complete with a Seth Thomas label in the back. The original wood is beautiful with the original finish! The clock is miniature and measures 21 inches high, 2 ¾ inches deep, and 6 ¼ inches wide. I doubt that any clock made today will still read more
