Antique Seth Thomas Double Dial Shelf Clock H - 28 1/4" W - 15 " D - 5 1/8" Movement - 8 Day signed 'S Thomas Plymouth Conn. USA' upper movement. It has been recently serviced and works well. The lower movement is also original. It advances correctly on the day, date and month. I will do my best to pack this, but my experiences find that these lower movements usually require minor adjustments after shipping. Dial - Original metal dials. Upper dial - repainted; Lower dial - re-papered Label - Original label in excellent condition on the inside of the front door Glasses - Original Case Condition - Beautiful Rosewood veneer. The raised round moldings are excellent - these areas usually suffer veneer damage. T are a few small areas at the corners on the top that have been touched up - small veneer loss. Overall the case is in beautiful condition - especially for this model. Pendulum - Original Key - Included This clock is very striking in it's appearance. I originally purchased this clock as the Ogee base molding is more attractive than the square edged bases. This base is more difficult to find, and is a variant to the ones listed in Tran Du Luy's book. Please view the photos as they are part of the description. It has come to my attention that this clock is a Fashion Calender Clock, made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co to be sold to the Culver Brothers company 'The Southern Calender Clock Co.' The company began in 1875 and closed in 1889. The 'Fashion No. 1', the clock being sold , was the first model made. The correct dials are much fancier than the ones on this clock (this clock features redone dials). The exact copies of the original dials are reasonably available through clock parts shops. According to Tran Duy Ly' book 'Seth Thomas clocks and Movements' - "The Fashion Calender clocks made by Seth Thomas are a line of beautiful, dependable, high quality clocks that are highly desired by many serious collectors of American clocks."
