's a great Large 7 and 1/2" Wide Antique Sevres Hand Painted Porcelain Box with Ormolu Trim, signed by the Artist, and offered at NO RESERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The box does need some restoration to a crack at the front right corner of the top. I'll get back to that later but now I'll go over the fine qualities of this beautiful box. It is of a large size measuring approximately 7 and 1/2" square and standing about 4" tall. The inside is hand painted with flowers both on the inner lid and the inner bottom. The lid has a courting scene with a man leading a blindfolded woman. It is signed lower right either Callat or Collot. The side panels are decorated in heavy gold in various designs. The ormolu trim makes up the perimeter of the edges of the base and lid, as well as the catch. According to my book of marks the S date code of the Sevres mark is for 1771 which I am not going to guarantee - I will only definitively state that the box dates to before 1900. I could not find the other mark in my book. Getting back to the unfortunate damage; the crack runs a bit over 3" from about w the catch is in front off to the side. It does also spider out in six directions as tight line cracks. It is easier to see them from the inside; they are not very noticeable from the outside. Two of the spiders run about 3" away from the actual crack, one you can read more
