This rare sextant in its original looks (not polished!) was produced between the years of 1840 and 1870. It is clearly ingraved at the arc with the premier instrument makers "SPENCER BROWNING & CO. - LONDON". I can`t see any serial numbers. The original Mahogany box is in great condtion and has inside a certificate issued by The Royal chamber for testing instruments on official Danish ships - in this case the world-famous ship for ocean-research vessels at that time : "DANA". The certificate was issued April 25th - 1928 saying the condition of the sextant is perfect and with technical infos. To-day - 79 years after - the certificate would nearly say the same. All filters and telescope works perfectly. The mirror needs to be changed which is very easy. If a collector would want to polish it, it is absolutely understandable and would look stunning displayed - but as with coins, I do not believe in polishing original beautiful rare items. This must be up to the owner ! SIZE Sextant : 10" from top to bottom of scale and 10,5" from on side of the scale to the other. SIZE Box: 11"x11" - Weight with box: 7.7 Pounds. DELIVERY: Worldwide - PAYMENT: Banktransfer/draft or cash by insured mail or PayPal + 4%. eBay on me - POSTAGE the buyer ! Please also see my other interesting antique items for sale ! Good luck bidding !
