I own a consignment shop in Worcester, MA. I am not experienced on antique merchandise. I will descirbe the best to my ability as to what I see. I recently purchased an estate and what will follow on my selling in the next few weeks will vary from sterling silver, silver plate, metal truck toys, Indian sea grass baskets to pottery. Gosh I love this job!!! Anyways, looking into what this is, I discovered it's called a meat cover. ( I thought I was missing a bottom!) It has 4 small dings on the cover but my camera could not pick them up because of the lighting. As always if you are not satisfied I will return your money and shipping costs. The pictures show you up front everything else. It measures 18-1/4" x 13-1/4". It is very heavy. The insignia that I have pictured reads: James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield. It shows a lion and a horse with a shield in the center with 4 characters. I don't understand them but they seem to be 4 different animals. In the center it reads 850 and at the oopposite end it reads either B.V. or B.Y. Like I said it does have 4 dings on the cover. ou can visually see 1 on the main cover picture. This is the largest. Please any additional information you want me to include or you just have questions, please e-mail me. I welcome the info! HALLMARK ALERT This piece I have been informed is solid silver.
