No Reserve! This is an absolutely gorgeous antique double inkwell with a center taperstick flanked by two cobalt blue ink bottles. Although we believe this is Sheffield fuse plate (c1790-1820), we are certainly no experts enough to guarantee it. So, please, you be the judge. It has the weight, feel and patina of old sterling but in areas w the plate is worn, a rich copper is visible. It carries an engraved pictorial mark showing an arm holding an arrow or spear (see photo). The ink bottles are thick cobalt glass with panelled and notched sides and ground pontils on the bottoms. The holder measures 9-3/4" x 3-7/8" and is 3-1/4" tall. The bottles are 1-3/8" in diameter and 1-1/8" tall. The plate is worn in spots, as mentioned, and the underside has some letters and numbers lightly scratched into the surface. Otherwise, the stand is in excellent condition with no dents, dings or damage. The bottles have no chips or cracks. A magnificen old inkwell! Arizona residents please add 6.1% sales tax.
