This auction is for an absolutely beautiful antique ship's door. Genuine, not a reproduction. I don't know anything about it's history, except that it was being used as a coffee table (it has the screw holes--now filled--to prove it). This is a massive (100 lbs) door, made of solid teak. All of the fittings are solid brass. The hinges have been folded in and are fastened to the top of the door. Probably the most interesting part of this door is the fresnel lens porthole. It is in perfect condition, which includes some bubbles and lines (no cracks) that are a normal part of the manufacturing process. It would be a great wall decor for a home, a pirate, or a seafood restaurant, or it could be again used as a coffee table or bar top in a tiki bar or pirate bar. The teak lumber alone is worth the starting price.

It was beautifully handcrafted, I have included a photo to show the wood joinery.

I know there are a lot of maritime antiques experts out there and so PLEASE I would appreciate any input as to it's provenance so that I can pass the info on to potential buyers.

Measurements:

67" (5' 7") tall 25" wide. The outside measurement is 25-1/4" as the door edge tapers in slightly (this is a real ship's door and was fitted into a door hatch). 2-1/4" thick Solid brass fittings, all of which work just fine, but there are no keys for the locks

NOTE: This is an antique, so expect to see scratches, nail holes and some chips on the edges. The brass is tarnished.

Shipping info: I have gotten a quote from Fedex for about $100 in the continental U.S. If you want this shipped anywhere else, I'll be glad to deliver this for freight shipment anywhere in the Los Angeles area, but you will be responsible for any shipping costs over $100. Or, you can save yourself the shipping charges and pick this up in Long Beach, California. ***NOTE*** If this item is shipped, the door handle and the deadbolt will be removed and shipped separately.
