This is an antique shoe shine chair from the early to mid 1900's. It stood in my father's barber shop, Central Barber Shop, in downtown Muskegon, MI for as long as I can remember, and was well used. The base of the stand and the chair are made of oak and are both very sturdy. The chair back and seat are covered with leather and tacks. The back is still in good condition, however the seat is in need of repair. The under seat of the chair also needs a new piece of wood. The straw filling is still intact. The top of the stand and the step are made of marble. There is a drawer on the front of the base to hold the rags and shoeshine. It stands 64 inches tall, and the base is approximately 2 foot square. The chair is removable from the base by removing the screws. The metal foot rests slide out on a track that is attached to the marble base. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
