Circa Estimated Early 1900s-1915.This antique pocket watch style compass WORKS Great! The enameled silver dial or face has an elaborate sundial design and reads, 'LEEDAWL...REG. U.S. PAT. OFFICE...SHORT & MASON, (with the S&M mark with an arrow through it)...TAYLOR - ROCHESTER, N.Y...PATENTS PENDING.'The case is silver (a magnet does Not stick to this), and the rim around the glass appears to be copper. The curved glass in in EXCELLENT CONDITION. I find only one short scratch, no scuffs. T are NO dings or dents to this!Measures a total of 2 3/8" including the ring at the top.
