Antique SILK EMBROIDERY PURSES 18th C Pocket Bk Sampler

These pieces are truly charming. They are 18th century silk pocket books or wallets. These were often made as gifts for loved ones or as tokens of friendship. A young girl made the larger one for her father. The verse, 'To thee papa this gift I make, accept and keep it for my sake' is on the front and back. Inside is a cornucopia of fruit on one side, a cornucopia of flowers on the other. The purse was made with two expanding pockets inside for keeping money or papers. It measures approximately 6" x 3 1/2". This is in good condition considering it's age. T is wear to the silk covering particularly at the edges and outside center fold. The linen liner is showing in these areas (silk missing). The inside is in good shape, some sequins missing, minor foxing. This was nicely made using silk over a linen liner. Colors are good.( prettier in person)
The second purse is decorated with sprigs of flowers on one side, a bowl of fruit on theother. This was also made with silk over a linen liner. The inside isan expandable two section pocket. This piece is in good condition with some wear to the silk. The original silk tie is barely attached, but could certainly be reattached or removed. It measures approx. 5" x 3 1/2". Colors are good. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. * Returns are accepted only if I have misrepresented what I am selling. Please ask questions or request pictures to get any information you need. I am not expert in every area, but am always happy to help. Any refund will be given upon the return of the item in the same condition as when shipped, returned packaged in the same manner as sent. I must be notified within 2 days of your receiving the item. Refunds will be made less postage costs. Thank you!
