Antique, Large,Unusual with angled lid, Sterling Silver & Gilt [ Gold washed interior] Card Case by One of The Most Famous Silver Card Case Maker, Colen Cheshire,Chester 1902. This stylish card case has stunning decoration of leaves,scrolls and flowers which making a beautiful background for a highly decorative blank cartouche.It also has an unusual angled lid which make it more special. This top quality card case is antique & 109 years old but still in supreme condition and would shine in any card case/silver collection. This large antique card case can easily fit any business/credit card in. Highly collectible silver card case for any serious card case/silver collector. Fully sterling silver hallmarked for: Chester 1902.Chester assay office was closed at 1962, so silver items with Chester hallmarks are highly sought after. Maker: C.C Colen Cheshire who was registered in Chester between 1894 & 1929 and is famous for making Silver Card Case, Vinaigrette and Box.He had retailed shop at Northampton street, Birmingham. Description and Condition:[please see photos] Beautiful sterling silver and gilt [gold washed interior] card case with stunning detailed decoration of flower, leave and scroll on both sides which are making a superb background for a highly decorative blank cartouche. It was made from good gauge of sterling silver and has a large size which can easily fit any credit/business card in. It has an unusual angled lid which made it more special. It is in supreme condition after 109 years with No Dents/Split/Soldering/Repair. I believe this card case has rarely been used in the past as you even can not see light surface scratches which you would normally expect to see in an antique silver after 109 years. There is a blank cartouche that has never been engraved,so it can be personalised Box close nicely and tightly. Detailed decoration is in mint condition with no signs of aging what so ever. Gild[Gold washed interior] is in nice original condition.
